If you can’t feed 100 people, then feed just one.

OUR STORY

An Ambitious Dream.

In 2005, while living in Brooklyn NY, God put the vision in our hearts to feed the world. We began volunteering in Brooklyn (and eventually, Phoenix AZ) by feeding hot meals to those in need. In doing so, we realized how important it was for each of us to do our part.  We knew then, that we have been commissioned to feed 5 thousand people.

We take this charge very seriously.  Once that has been accomplished, we will start over again to feed another 5 thousand.  The goal is to bride the gap in areas that have food deserts. We will feed one community at time, with the help of the community.

The Motivation.

Through hard work, dedication and sacrifice we are humbled to be doing the work of God. The motivation for this commission came from Matthew 14:15-18; when Jesus fed 5 thousand people, including women and children. A small boy gave all he had which was 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, and God blessed it and multiplied it.  There are many things we have been commissioned to do, and one of those is to feed our sisters and brothers that need it the most.

The Commitment.

While we have been continuously blessed to be able to afford the rising food costs here in America, we see the struggles of many in our communities that cannot. We do what we do because it is what God has commissioned us to do on this earth. To feed the hungry, cloth the poor, heal the sick.  To us, we are just doing our part.  We believe that with each person doing their part, we can make this world whole.

Matthew 14:16 16 Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

Inspired by Martha Clark.

Martha Helen Clark was born on April 6th, 1953, in Cotton Plant, Arkansas. As an adult she worked for the post office in Oak Forest, IL, where she was the first African American letter carrier. She received several awards for outstanding work before her retirement in 2004. She volunteered many hours of work to local hospitals and non-profits. She was also one of the very first volunteers for “The Legacy Initiative,” which is the holding, or parent, nonprofit of this organization. She was well known to the neighborhood kids as “the people’s mom” because of her love, care, and willingness to always help them when needed. She was known to bring love, grace, and peace to her entire family. A ‘Sister from God’ is what her sister called her.

“I remember from the very beginning of our relationship, my mother-in-law, Martha, always went out of her way to make me feel special and included. I will never forget how welcomed and accepted I felt. It was a joy having her advice and guidance while she was here. I feel very blessed to have known her. My mother-in-law was one of the sweetest women I’ve known. She would do anything and everything for others, and I always admired her selflessness and the strong family bond she built. We named the company in her honor because it embodies her spirit. Her kindness extended beyond her children, her family, and strangers. She loved to volunteer and would do anything for anyone. She was one of a kind, with a heart of gold.”

A Birthday Note for Mom!

Absent but your Presence is Present

We can never understand why those that are

closest to us must go,

They leave us stunned, paralyzed and with many questions

to which the answers we don’t know

They were our rock, our inspiration, and our endless

source of light,

They were the ones that taught us what it means to be Black,

and ensured we were prepared for our fight,

They taught us how to be men, and you all

how to be women,

To make us better than they were,

has been their only goal from the beginning,

They’ve given us their time, their wisdom, their love,

and have asked nothing in return,

Only that we be the best that we can be, and pass this on

to the next generation when it is our turn,

But who is going to take care of me,

now that you are gone

Where am I supposed to get my strength,

when I am too weak to be strong

How do I succeed in a world,

where I was born with two strikes,

How do I pick my battles, to know who,

what and when to fight,

What do I do to make you proud,

and smile down on me,

How do I make the world see all of you,

when they see some of me,

And then I close my eyes, and I can hear you softly

whisper to me, “You are ready”

To show the world just who you are, and to

continue Our Legacy

And then I smile…………

You may be absent from me, but at this present moment

you are with me, and your presence lives on through me,

for you, forever, for us.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Words cannot express how much we love and miss you.
